The Road to #ZeroCompetition: Nissan GT-R Nismo
November 19 – Yokohama – Nissan unveiled its new Nissan GT-R Nismo Tuesday, announcing the vehicle achieved a record lap time for a volume production car at Germany’s famed Nürburgring in late September.
Four experienced drivers took turns on the Nordschleife (North Loop) with the goal of setting the fastest lap by a volume production car.
At 4:48 p.m. on September 30, 12 minutes before closing and five minutes before rain began to fall, driver Michael Krumm took the wheel, piloting a record run of 7:08.679.
Listen to Krumm offer a full narrative of his epic Nurburgring lap at the link below with Japanese translation:
Other drivers joining Krumm in Germany were Sébastien Buemi, Armin Hahne and Tetsuya Tanaka.
“The weather was perfect,” says Krumm. “Cool. No rain. Not too windy. We had the afternoon to try for the record. The car was in road trim. The Nissan GT-R Nismo with track options was used.”
