DeltaWing Accident at Petit Le Mans
Oct. 18 – Braselton, Georgia – An accident involving the Nissan DeltaWing has put it back in the paddock for repairs with eyes on Saturday’s Petit Le Mans endurance race, while driver Gunnar Jeannette was uninjured in the Road Atlanta crash Wednesday.
The car then rolled over, damaged also by impact with a wall.
Still, the Nissan DeltaWing team expect to be back on track at Road Atlanta and ready for Saturday’s race.
Despite the disappointing end to the day, the team were extremely pleased with the performance of the car – finishing the day as the 6th fastest overall.
Nissan’s DeltaWing is ground-breaking in the racing world. It is half the weight, horsepower and aerodynamic drag of typical race car – allowing it to burn less fuel and require fewer tire changes.
