From DAT to Datsun
July 15 – Yokohama – In 1910s Japan, there were 310,000 bicycles, 130,000 carriages and almost no cars, but engineer Masujiro Hashimoto had a dream of 100% Japanese car: the DAT car.
Two decades later, the newly formed Nissan Motor Company had big plans for the son of DAT, or Datsun, and, by the 1960s, the brand was on its way to becoming a global success.
