Barcelona Represents

Sept. 17 – Barcelona, Spain – Nissan’s new Pulsar hatchback, built exclusively in Barcelona, is teaming up with one of Europe’s top footballers, Andrés Iniesta.

Iniesta was the first to drive a new Pulsar off the production line during a visit to Nissan Motor Iberica.

Barcelona star Iniesta and Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva are Nissan’s first global ambassadors as part of new partnership with the UEFA Champions League, which kicked off in August.

At the plant, Iniesta saw behind-the-scenes production, how the vehicle is manufactured and by whom.

“The car in itself is a beauty. But I was most impressed by the interior, and the way the engineers have been able to distribute the inner space,” said Iniesta. “My attention was particularly drawn to the space available at the back of the car and the fact that the trunk is in no way small, but on the contrary very wide. I think it is a car to be enjoyed one hundred per cent.”

The 5-seater Pulsar marks Nissan’s return to the competitive C-segment, family hatchback category.

It’s equipped with Nissan’s suite of “safety net” technologies that includes the Around View Monitor and blind-spot warning, as well as class-leading roominess and a connected satellite navigation system that links the car to smart phones for optimal interaction.

Marco Toro, Managing Director of Nissan Motor Iberica, highlighted the importance of Iniesta’s role with Nissan.

“Pulsar has been designed here in the Nissan center here in Barcelona. It was then pre-launched for all of Europe at the automotive show of Madrid in May,” said Toro. Then we presented the car to the press last week in Girona for all of Europe. And we’re now producing the car in Spain here in Barcelona.”

“We’re now shooting the video for all of Europe for this car in Madrid, so the fact that today we have delivered the car to Iniesta, the best Spanish ambassador that we could find, is really the perfect match between a car that is Spanish and the Nissan ambassador we found in the Champions League.”

The Champions League is football’s most important club competition and reaches 4 billion viewers each season.

Silva and Iniesta will go head to head on Sept. 30 when PSG take on Barcelona in Paris.

Anticipation for the match is high, as is that for the Pulsar’s full roll-out in Europe this autumn.
